A roller shutter is a good way to lock up a shop front, storeroom, warehouse or garage. It rolls up into a coil above the opening, so it takes no space at the sides or in front the way a sliding or swing door does. The downsides: it is noisy to open and close, and if the side guides get bent or dirty it starts to stick.
On site Rong measures the real width and height of the opening, checks whether there is enough headroom above it for the coil, whether the walls or columns either side are solid enough to hold the guide rails, whether the floor under the closed shutter is level, and, if you want a motor, whether there is a power point nearby.
The classic mistake is measuring the opening and forgetting the space the coil needs above it, or fixing the guides to a weak wall. Before booking a visit, send photos on LINE of the opening from the front, the area above it, both sides, rough sizes and your location pin. Rong can usually tell from those whether a shutter will fit.

Designs and options
Manual roller shutter
Lifted and pulled down by hand. Cheaper and simpler to maintain, and fine for narrower openings that aren't opened many times a day. On a wide opening, or if the person opening it is elderly, it gets heavy enough that nobody wants to use it.
Electric roller shutter
Easier for wide openings or a shop that opens and closes several times a day. It costs more, needs a power supply, has more parts that can fail, and you must know how to open it by hand during a power cut. Ask on LINE, as motor options are confirmed case by case.
Solid or perforated slats
Solid slats keep out rain and prying eyes. Perforated slats let air through and let passers-by see in, which shops like for showing stock after hours, but wind-driven rain gets in too.

How the price is worked out
Roller shutters start from 10,000 THB, but there is no fixed price and we can't give a real figure in advance. It depends on the site, the size of the opening, slat type, manual or motorised operation, whether columns need strengthening or power needs running, and steel prices at the time. Rong does a free site survey first, then writes an itemised quotation based on material prices at that time. Remote or boat-access areas such as Ko Lanta and Ko Phi Phi carry a travel fee, which is shown in the quotation before you agree to anything.
There is no fixed price. It depends on your site and on steel and material prices at the time. The site survey is free.

Roller Shutters: questions we get asked
How much space do I need above the opening?
Enough for the rolled-up coil, and that grows with the height of the shutter and the slat type. If there is a low beam or ceiling right above the opening, it may not fit inside, or it may have to be mounted on the outside. Rong measures this on site before confirming.
Manual or electric: which should I choose?
If the opening isn't very wide, you open it a few times a day and the person doing it is fit, manual is better value and has less to go wrong. For wide openings, frequent use or older staff, a motor makes sense, but accept the extra cost and upkeep.
What happens to an electric shutter in a power cut?
Most motorised systems have a manual override. Ask for a demonstration at handover and have someone at the house or shop try it once themselves. Don't wait for the first power cut to work it out.
My old shutter is stiff and hard to pull. Can it be fixed?
Ask on LINE with photos of both guide rails and the coil. Stiffness usually comes from dirty or bent guides or a tired spring. Cleaning helps if it's just dirt; if slats are dented or the guides badly bent, a repair may not be worth it.
How does payment work? Do you issue a tax invoice?
We take a 30% deposit before work starts, and the balance is paid as set out in the quotation. You get a cash bill; we do not charge VAT and cannot issue a tax invoice, so if your company needs one, tell us at the start.
